  • I'VE TRUSTED THE RENOVATING KC TEAM WITH MULTIPLE INVESTMENT PROJECTS THAT I HAVE OWNED TO RENOVATE AND SELL. THEY'RE EASY TO WORK WITH AND KNOW THEIR CRAFT. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO WORK WITH THEM ON FUTURE PROJECTS.

    Ryan | 2023

  • THANK YOU FOR THE INSPIRATION. MY BATHROOM TURNED OUT LOVELY. I HAVE GOTTEN MANY COMPLIMENTS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE ACCENT TILE. I NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND IT WITHOUT YOU. YOUR STAFF WAS RESPONSIBLE, RESPONSIVE, AND RESPECTFUL IN DEALING WITH ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD.

    Carol | 2023

  • I hired Renovating KC to remodel my childhood home. My father recently passed and left my brother and I the home. We just couldn’t part with it despite it still being in its original 1987 condition, appliances and all. Every room and surface needed to be updated and the Ross brothers did an amazing job! The communication was wonderful, especially since I was trying to coordinate everything from Oregon. They were able to get the remodel done in just a few short months and even under budget! I wouldn’t even hesitate to use them again for another project. They are the best!

    Carolyn | 2024

  • We used Renovating KC Design and Remodel for almost a complete gut and remodel. We purchased our home from a couple that lived there 47 years without hardly updating anything. Their team is fantastic, from helping with the design to completing the project, it was such a smooth process. The communication was wonderful, their tradespeople were amazing.... we lived in the house for the last couple months of the renovation and their crew was friendly, respectful of the situation and we enjoyed having them there. Between Steven, Ben and Chris, we always felt like we could convey our vison, talk through options, overcome obstacles and ultimately ended up with our dream home. We will be forever grateful we used them to remodel our home!

    Neil | 2024

  • I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Renovating KC. I have high respect for how they treat their customers. They operate their projects with professionalism and integrity.

    Patrick | 2024

  • Renovating KC was exceptional to work with for our home project! Would highly recommend them to anyone!

    Jenni | 2024

  • Renovating KC did an excellent job on our master bathroom and closet remodel. Used another outfit previosuly to do our kitchen, and Renovating KC was 100x better in every aspect. They show up when they say they'll be there, kept the mess from getting into other parts of the house, super communicative and professional. Comfortable letting them work there even when we weren't home. Found their estimate to be right in line with what we ended up paying, and below the bids we got from other companies. Will be using them again!

    Declan | 2024

  • Renovating KC was professional, experienced and friendly. They gave us an open floor plan by removing a wall and new flooring throughout first floor. Seamless project management and a great communication removed the stress of the process from our plates. Would 100% recommend and hire again.

    Megan | 2024

  • Ben and Steve made the remodeling process so stress-free. They did an amazing job on making our basement a comfortable, accessible and great-looking space. Everyone involved in the project was dependable and they communicated and responded to everything we asked for. I would highly recommend them.

REMODEL FAQ

  • Renovating a kitchen means giving it a new look. This may include a fresh coat of paint, replacing the tile, or refacing the cabinets, but every adjustment is relatively superficial.

Remodeling a kitchen, however, the adjustments are slightly more transformative. Walls might be added/demolished, lights installed or moved, or plumbing reconfigured. At the end of a major remodeling project, it’ll be like you have a brand new kitchen.

  • Before you start any home improvement project, you need to have a well-defined vision for the end result. However, this does not mean you need to draft a meticulous blueprint of your dream kitchen.

Our personalized design experience is a process in which one of our design specialists will conduct a consultation with you in the comfort of your home. Well, this is where that one of a kind service really shines, because our designers have the mindful understanding to see your kitchen as you’d like it to be. In addition, they possess the experience and remodeling know-how to bring that dream kitchen to life. They can also evaluate how you use your kitchen, and make suggestions as to what features can make the space work for you. For example, if you have an expansive spice collection, they may recommend adding a built-in spice drawer to your new kitchen plan.

  • While every kitchen is unique and one-of-a-kind, most kitchen remodels follow the same general pattern; a standardized set of steps. And whether you end up taking one or all of these remodeling steps, it’s a good idea to know their chronological order.

    1. Demoing your kitchen. Out with the old to make way for the new. During this phase, our team will essentially clear everything away from the area on which we’ll be working. This could mean pulling the cabinets away from one wall, or gutting the entire room.

    2. The walls. Whether the project involves removing or adding a wall, now’s the chance to do it. It’s also a perfect opportunity to strip the drywall, revealing the pipework and electric wires in order to replace or reroute these fixtures. Once completed, new drywall can be put up, and every affected wall coated with a layer of primer.

    3. The floor. Our design specialists can assist you in choosing what floor fits your lifestyle and your taste, from a wide variety of options including linoleum, ceramic, or wood. If you’d like to browse these options, connect with our design team, who can show you all the possibilities.

    4. Cabinets and countertop. The stylistic possibilities are endless, especially with so many gorgeous, practical options available. Our online kitchen gallery is another great resource to gather ideas. Feel free to look through our photos, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you like what you see.

    5. The backsplash. Though it won’t take up a lot of wall space, it will be a defining feature of the room. That’s because backsplashes are like the banners of kitchen design. They catch the eye and make a statement; a statement that you dictate by choosing the right color and material to represent your heart and your home. Choosing the right backsplash for you can be difficult, but your assigned design specialist will help you with the decision as part of our personalized design experience.

    6. The appliances. You can keep your old stove, dishwasher, fridge, etc., or upgrade your kitchen with newer tech. Get in touch with our design team today to discuss your kitchen remodel.

  • Remodeling your bathroom can be a substantial undertaking. It requires some time and monetary investment, and it results in significant changes to a very important room of your home. In light of that, it’s natural to pause before starting a bathroom remodel and wonder if you should be starting one at all.

    1. Aging plumbing. Over time, pipes may begin degrading, which could lead to water leaks, reduce your ability to use certain appliances, and lower water quality. So, if you notice such plumbing troubles in your bathroom, it may be time to replace the pipes and remodel the room.

    2. Water fixtures can degrade as well – at least in terms of efficiency. Older showers and faucets do not always function as efficiently as they once did, or as compared to newer models. As a result, updating such fixtures during your next bathroom remodel could also save you money on your utility bill.

    3. Bathroom tiles are another bathroom feature that often show age, perhaps even doing so to the detriment of your bathroom’s style and safety. Chipped, scratched, and otherwise worn tiles can undercut interior design and present tripping hazards.

    4. Walls can become a similar point of concern as time runs its course. Scuffs in the paint or peeling wallpaper can bring a haggard feeling into a room that ought to be a place of relaxation. Moreover, such damage to your bathroom walls can leave them vulnerable to mildew, taxing fashion and introducing safety concerns.

    5. If your bathroom storage doesn’t meet your standards, that can be reconciled as well during a remodel. There are many ways in which a home improvement project could improve storage capacity. Moving a wall, for example, could make the room more spacious, and updating the cabinetry could make whatever space you have more efficient.

  • Just how long the bathroom remodeling process takes depends on a number of factors. The first of these would be project magnitude. The more work there is to be done, the longer it will take to complete. Project permits may be necessary for your remodel. Depending on the municipality in which you live, it may be necessary to obtain certain permits before work can begin on your bathroom.

In addition, complexity has a way of increasing the duration of home improvements. Whether the project is inherently complex, or if it becomes so thanks to mid-project discoveries, it will take longer to finish up than a simpler one.

That’s why it’s beneficial to have someone with a lot of experience in the field to help you simplify your next bathroom remodel. Learn how we can help you by giving us a call or visiting our office.

    1. Laying the groundwork: The first step of a bathroom remodel is planning, because it enables you to complete every step that follows efficiently. As you plan, you’ll want to set your remodeling goals. Our team of professional designers can help with this step immensely, as they are trained to observe how you use your space and make suggestions as to what goals can be set that will ensure your new space fits your lifestyle and tastes.

Speaking of tastes, this phase is your time to consider bathroom design. While certain aesthetic decisions can – and, arguably, should – be made later, it’s a good idea to make some of them now. For instance, it’s a great time to pick out colors for a fresh paint job, but you may want to hold off on selecting a new light switch plate until you’ve seen those colors coated on the walls.

We can walk you through the various design decisions during this phase through our Personalized Design experience. We can also offer assistance during the following phases, as well.

    2. Clearing the floor: Our team will remove anything in your bathroom that you’d like to replace, as well as anything that could obstruct upcoming remodeling work. You can think of this step as the ‘out with the old’ phase before we can reach ‘in with the new.’ Some of the ‘old’ can be removed intact, and if it’s in proper condition it can either be reused in your bathroom or resold elsewhere.

Vanities, for example, can often be displaced without damage. On the other hand, tiles that have been mortared in place may require a more forceful hand to detach from the bathroom floor or shower wall.

That being said, caution is essential all throughout this phase, so that nothing is removed which ought to have remained – and vice versa. Thankfully, we have the experience and training to be appropriately cautious, so you can be sure we’ll complete this phase of bathroom remodeling with excellence.

    3. The waterworks: Having set the stage, we can address the major water-related features of your bathroom. This is the time to replace old pipes, if necessary, as well as replace and/or move your bathroom appliances.

This phase of bathroom remodeling will require some attention to the walls and, potentially, the floor, so as to expose the pipework. We’ll patch up any resulting surface tears during the next phase.

    4. Defining the atmosphere: In addition to patching up torn surfaces at this time, we’ll finish them with your choice of wallpaper, paint, tile, or flooring. Or even a combination of both – a tile backsplash looks wonderful against a fresh coat of paint.

We can also update your shower or bathtub to give your bathroom a whole new look, whatever the starting condition of those items may be.

Lighting presents another way to give the room a new look. There are so many types, shades, and shapes of lights that it’s easy to personalize your bathroom illumination.

    5. Final touches: As we wrap up a bathroom remodel, we’ll be installing things like the baseboards, along with the door trim, faucet, and vanity. In addition, we’ll check freshly painted surfaces for nicks and chips. Once we touch up such areas, we will finish the look by adding the bathroom accessories – towel racks, shelves, etc.

After that, we leave you to your new bathroom.
