Renovating KC Recap: Elegant Bathroom Transformation in Kansas City

Welcome to our Renovating KC Recap series — where we pull back the curtain on our latest Kansas City remodels. If you’ve seen the before/afters on our feed and wondered how we got there, you're in the right place. Today, we're diving into a recent bathroom remodeling Kansas City project that stayed true to the original layout but got a complete aesthetic reboot.

Next up on the blog is a recently finished bathroom renovation in Kansas City:

Before:

When we first stepped into this bathroom, the plan was functional but uninspired. Basic, dated tile; a standard vanity with minimal storage; and a cramped shower space that lacked visual appeal. Instead of gutting the layout, we chose to preserve the existing footprint, embracing a “do more with what you have” philosophy. We believe in balancing cost control with high-impact upgrades!

selections, rendering & Floor planning:

As part of our full-service Kansas City design and remodel approach, each client is partnered with a dedicated in-house designer. Our clients received 3D renderings, paint swatches, tile samples, and more. As you can see from the example of the presentation with this client, this allowed them to see and feel what their space would become before construction even started.

The wish list for this customer was to keep their existing layout, add new tile, additional storage, new plumbing fixtures. Their design inspiration was to be warm and timeless.

Once the design was finalized, our skilled in-house construction team began preparing the space: they fully gutted the old bathroom and prepared to bring the customers dream bathroom to life. Starting with a clean slate, the team was able to get to work!

Wall Paint: Sherwin-Williams “Taupe of the Morning”
This warm neutral brings gentle earthiness and versatility. In different lighting it can read as taupe, greige, or soft sand — making it a quiet, elegant backdrop for the rest of the room.

  1. Accent Wall & Cabinetry: Sherwin-Williams “Tricorn Black”
We anchored cabinetry and an accent wall in this deep black, giving drama and contrast against the lighter walls and stone. It allows the gold fixtures to pop and adds visual depth.

  2. Tub & Shower Tile: La Marca Calacatta Paonazzo
The marble-inspired veining of Calacatta Paonazzo brings classic luxury. Its tones harmonize beautifully with the neutrals and the warmer touches in the room.

  3. Shower Floor: Hexagon Mosaic Tile
A hexagon mosaic on the shower floor introduces subtle geometry and texture underfoot, delicate enough not to fight the larger tile, but distinct enough to feel custom.

  4. Custom Wood-Framed Wall Mirror, Beveled Profile
Instead of a generic mirror, we designed a wood frame with beveled glass edges — a statement element that doubles as functional art.

  5. Gold Delta Fixtures
Faucets, handles, and shower hardware in gold (Delta) unite with the lighting and serve as cohesive accents that feel intentional, warm, and elegant.
